With the average temperature in Fuerteventura ranging from 17°C in January to 25°C in August, its no surprise to find that most of its visitors choose to relax and soak up the sun on the beach. Fuerteventura is home to over 150 beaches, with over 50km of stunning white and golden sand, more than any of the other canary islands. The World Championship speed and slalom wind-surfing events are held here every August. Flag Beach Windsurf Centre offers excellent surf from body boarding, surfing, wind surfing and kite surfing.
Fuerteventuras attractions are not just limited to its beaches, there is a variaty of things to see and do on the island, The Baku Euro Park, located in Corralejo, is a water park with Water Slides, Flumes, Wave Machine, Rapids and Climbing areas.
The Baku Park is also home to the Animal Experience where visitors can see many animals such as, Reptiles, Seals, Flamingos, Tortoises and live shows with Sea Lions and Parrots. Visitors can also take the chance to Dive with Bakus Sharks. Bakus last attraction is “The Old Galleon”. In its shadow live two Seals and visitors can explore the shipwreck and see the authentic cannons and bullets among other things.
Oasis Park is a Zoo, here tourists can take a trip on the Camel Safari and see hundreds of animals including Giraffes, Wallabys, Zebra, Meerkat, Crocodiles, Elephants, Hippopotamus, Cheetahs, Lynxes and Fennec Foxes. There are enclosures with free flying birds and a pool for baby Crocodiles. There are numerous shows on offer including, a Sea Lion show, a Raptor display, a Parrot show and a Reptile show.
The Park is also home to a Botanical Garden of Cacti and tropical plants. With over 2300 different species and 28000 plants, it is one of the largest collections in Europe. From the Garden Watching Point visitors can view the Crocodile lake and the Camel Safari. From the Guirre Tower, visitors can view the Fuerteventura Vulture as it makes its daily trip into the garden to feed. The bird is of cultural importance to the island.
